Hello lovely Patrons! Here’s a photo from our recent trip to Fenton House in London. They have an enormous collection of keyboard instruments! I particularly loved the colours of this one. I’m not completely sure, but I think this is a spinet, which is a small harpsichord. The strings would have been plucked by quills. Not like the luxurious sound of the pianos that we are used to now, but highly decorative to look at!
I’ve been busy in the studio adding string layers, harmonies and the solo violin to ‘For Edna’! This will now need to be mixed and the final touches and flourishes added after that! Dan has also been recording some guitar for my ‘Holiburn’s Lament’ track too! He may add some bass to this to give it some depth. Two very different tracks, Edna’s piece is very romantic in style with sweeping Celtic melodies to convey the drama and beauty of Cornwall’s north coast, and the Holiburn piece is much simpler and folky with guitar accompanying a haunting violin solo. There are string harmonies on this track too to add to the bittersweet nature of the music.
Thank you all for your patience and support! I’ve been knocked off course a bit since having flu, which has been frustrating, but it’s all systems go again! Love and thanks to you all, xxx
