Hi there! Here is a photo I wanted to share with you, from a recent walk in between storms! We have been experiencing strong gales along with torrential rain, thunder and lightening just lately! I do love the drama of nature, as long as I’m somewhere warm and cosy, however!
This photo will be featured on my Seasonal Postcard. There was a glorious sunset during a lull in the storm, and this beach is our local one which we walk to when we need to blow away the cobwebs!
I’m enjoying practising my newly tuned piano and will be recording my piano part very soon for my ‘For Edna’ track. You will be the first to hear each stage of the recording process in my Studio Notes! Heartfelt thanks to you all xxx
Hi everyone! I’ve been busy working on my new piece ‘For Edna’! You may remember that I had so many ideas for this new composition that it was slowing down the proceedings and I had decided to turn it into two new pieces!
So, the first piece of music is coming along well now and I have finally decided upon the musical structure of it. I am aiming to do a little video clip of it for you soon on the piano. It started out as a Celtic violin melody, but the piano has since joined in with a brooding theme!
Thank you Edna for inspiring this music, and huge thanks to all of you for being so wonderful and supportive. If it wasn’t for you all, I wouldn’t be doing any of this! xxx
Good morning everyone! I just love practising my compositions first thing in the morning! The house is quiet (apart from me, that is!) and the early morning sun is streaming through the window. I’m getting ready to video my piano teaser for my new piece, ‘For Edna’! You will be the very first to hear it, and it’s all down to your encouragement and support that has made this possible! I will get dressed out of my PJs when I do the filming, although they are very snazzy and comfy! Lots of love and thanks to you all xxx
Hi everyone! Rather like the changing of the seasons, my performing schedule will be calming down after tomorrow! I’ve had an incredibly busy summer playing for weddings and I’m looking forward to getting back to my recording work.
It’s also the perfect time of year for painting and I’m excited about creating more artwork for you to enjoy. This photo was taken the other morning at St Hilary, which is a five minute walk away, up a steep hill! The colours of Autumn are starting to show here in Cornwall, it always seems a little bit later here as we are down south and the climate is usually very mild.
I have the piano tuner coming round to get my piano ready for recording. I love listening to him doing his work! It won’t be too long either before we get the incredible starling murmurations over Marazion Marsh! This is definitely my favourite time of year! Huge thanks to you all, and new music is on the way! xxx
We are having a flying visit to some of our family members, our son Lee in Bristol, followed by Phil’s family in Solihull in the West Midlands! Phil’s mum has lots of photos and we have enjoyed sorting through them. We found this photo she took of us back in 2000. It was taken on St Agnes beach in Cornwall, and we had all travelled down from our then home in Solihull to be interviewed on BBC Radio Cornwall about the release of my first album, ‘Sacred Landscapes’. The Cornish landscape influenced my music as a result of all the holidays we enjoyed there, and the fact that one day we hoped to move there with our young family. Phil’s mum looked after Dan and Lee that afternoon at her friend’s house in St Agnes, while Phil and I did the radio interview. It was very exciting and the first time anyone had interviewed me about my composing work! With a lot of planning and determination we finally moved to Cornwall in 2004. This photo was really the start of that adventure! Thanks as always to all of you for your kindness and support. New videos are on the way! xxx
Hi everyone! This is a wonderful season for misty woodland walks, and appreciating the beautiful colours of nature. I adore this season and have always found it the most inspiring time for me to compose new music! I will be posting out my Poetry Postcards tomorrow and will share with you a video we made from a recent visit to Agatha Christie’s house at Greenway near Dartmouth. I discovered some beautiful poetry that she wrote and I will let you hear one of my favourites! I’m so looking forward to starting my recording work again in the next few weeks! Thanks so much to you all for your kindness, encouragement and support xxxx
